How to implement

Assign ALT text that exactly conveys the information contained in the image. ALT

text should:

•   Be short, succinct and straight-to-the-point
•   Contain no more and no less information than that in the image

The HTML to insert ALT text is:

<img src=”filename.jpg” alt=”Information conveyed by image” />

How to test

Accessibility Toolbar > Images > Toggle Image/Alt. Images should be replaced by

ALT text which exactly matches the message conveyed by the image.

Why is this important?

Screen readers can’t understand images; instead they read aloud the ALT text for images.
Additionally users with images disabled with see ALT text in place of images.
